To The Mayor Of Manchester: The Bomber Was A Muslim, Michael Brown, Townhall

Common Sense Commentary: As CS has noted before, it is moderate Muslims who are without the authority. The nature of any religion can be identified by the nature and character of its founder. In the case of Islam, Mohammad waged over 30 wars up until the time of his death in his 60’s – and had over 30 additional wars planned when he died. He killed men, women, children, Muslims, Jews, and Christians, forcing them to submit to his way of thinking about religion. His immediate followers did the same.

What We’re Not Supposed To Talk About: The Problem Is Not The Islamic State, But Islamic Hate, Raymond Ibrahim, Raymond ibrahim.com

Quote: “The greater issue is that regular Muslims who are not called “ISIS,” “Taliban,” “Boko Haram,” or “al-Qaeda,” commit similar acts—and much more frequently—though this is rarely mentioned by big media lest people begin to connect the dots…Accordingly, what “extremist” “terrorist” and “militant” groups are doing is only the notable tip of the iceberg of what Muslims are doing all around the world.”

History: A Bridge Too Far – Due To Incompetence, Misfortune, & Arrogance WWII’s Operation Market Garden Was A Tragedy From The Start, Carlo D’Este, Armchair General

Quote: “[British General] Montgomery’s later claim that 90% of its objectives had been attained was meaningless. The Allies had failed to establish a bridgehead north of the Rhine in what has come to be known as “a bridge too far.” Without that bridgehead Montgomery’s narrow front had died ingloriously….It took until 1960 for [American General and then US President] Eisenhower to privately admit that Market Garden had “miserably failed.” Also see this link, Why Did Operation Market Garden Fail?

Movies: Ridley Scott’s Alien Covenant His Worst Film Yet? Matt Battaglia, The Federalist

CS Commentary: Spoilers present so see the film first. Wait – Don’t see the film at all, as Battaglia implies it is a waste of money and time. CS largely agrees with his review, but did we miss something? Prometheus still pre-dates this film, right? And, if that’s the case its not just a man vs. machine plot. Or did something get by us while we snoozed off during this mis-aimed prequel-sequel? Scott’s a great director and should spend his time in his senior years on better material.

TV: The Final Season Of ‘Bloodline’ On Netflix, Hilary Lewis, Hollywood Reporter; Also see, ‘Bloodline’ Exposes The Tortures Of Family Secrets, Seaborn Hall, The Federalist

Common Sense Commentary: The third season of ‘Bloodline’ continues the mess of the second season: a great premise and a stellar cast, wrapped up in the prison of mediocre writing. Long pregnant silences, muddled indecisive characters and storylines, and the disappearance of a major character that through the first four episodes, at least, is barely explained and that the audience has no time to grieve. Here’s hoping House of Cards (due May 30) continues to satisfy because there is little joy in the current Spring/Summer TV season. ‘Bloodline’ has become a pathetic group of main characters in search of a reason to be on screen. The third and last season goes out with a ‘bang’ all right – its the sound of the show killing itself.
