Quotes: “So, what’s so wrong with a little harmless entertainment of watching people scramble for “love” like ravenous crabs on a washed up seal corpse?…it can have serious consequences….Toni Morrison writes one of the most profound observations about human culture: “Along with the idea of romantic love, she was introduced to another — physical beauty. Probably the most destructive ideas in the history of human thought….Just as some experts blame the porn industry for establishing sexual shenanigans that make millennials feel too inadequate to pursue sex, so this network romance porn may set the bar for falling in love so low that only divorce attorneys and Ashley Madison subscribers can endorse it.”

Common Sense Commentary: CS starts a new evaluation category in which we evaluate the logic of chosen articles. This piece, as with most ‘Never Trump’ arguments has little or no logic at all…For more, see here.

Quote: “Today, the vast majority of Israelis, including the left wing, recognize that the Palestinian Arabs prefer to try to destroy Israel more than to build a State of Palestine. Hence the impasse in peacemaking, though the Western nations never seem to tire of trying to get the Israelis to give the Palestinian Arabs a state which they don’t want.”

Film Review: Wonder Woman, Andrew Barker, Variety

CS Commentary: Nope. Gal Gadot is great in this role, but the movie itself suffers by comparison. Why? The usual reason – millions spent on action sequences and special effects, but not enough time or attention to the story. The movie works better in its first half, than its second. There are moving moments, and women in the audience seemed to love the idea of a heroic female protagonist – but the plot and the characters stumble and there are times I was yawning at the screen. C+ at best. But also see, The New Wonder Woman Is Really A Story About Jesus, The Federalist

Common Sense Commentary: The third season of ‘Bloodline’ continues the mess of the second season: a great premise and a stellar cast, wrapped up in the prison of mediocre writing. Long pregnant silences, muddled indecisive characters and storylines, and the disappearance of a major character that through the first four episodes, at least, is barely explained and that the audience has no time to grieve. Here’s hoping House of Cards (due May 30) continues to satisfy because there is little joy in the current Spring/Summer TV season. ‘Bloodline’ has become a pathetic group of main characters in search of a reason to be on screen. The third and last season goes out with a ‘bang’ all right – its the sound of the show killing itself.
